About me

Tom Ongalo is the founding principal and managing consultant of kWh Advisory & Development Ltd. With a prior foundation in Economics & Banking with over fifteen years of progressive experience in project management and development, Tom has built a career at the intersection of energy finance, infrastructure development, and African energy sector advisory.

Specialising in utility-scale solar PV and hybrid energy systems, he brings deep technical fluency to the commercial and financial disciplines that define whether a project reaches financial close. His experience spans the full development lifecycle – from greenfield early-stage feasibility and grid-connected PV design through to PPA negotiation, government engagement, project finance structuring, and construction oversight.

Before founding kWh Advisory, Tom held senior project management roles within the renewable energy development sector, leading multidisciplinary stakeholder teams across technical, regulatory, and commercial workstreams. That experience gave him both the engineering literacy and the transactional rigour that underpins kWh Advisory's approach to development in African energy markets. Tom works directly with clients across EMEA, bringing to each engagement the kind of market knowledge that only comes from sustained, on-the-ground presence in the African energy market space
